Former Clemson stars Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne helped lead the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4) to their third win in their last four games – a 27-24, overtime road victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in Week 12 of the NFL season.
Etienne enjoyed another big game, while Lawrence reached a couple of career milestones during the contest.
Lawrence completed 18 of 30 passes for 256 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing five times for 29 yards.
He now has 16,222 passing yards in his career, and on Sunday, he moved ahead of quarterback David Garrard (16,003) for the third most passing yards in Jaguars franchise history.
Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, is just the fifth player in the AFC and ninth in the NFL since 2021 to reach 16,000 career passing yards.
Lawrence’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Etienne in the first quarter of Sunday’s game marked the 100th total touchdown of his career, including passing and rushing scores. He is the seventh player in the AFC to reach that milestone since he entered the NFL in 2021.
While Lawrence made some great plays Sunday, he did commit four total turnovers – three interceptions and a lost fumble – and those turnovers are something he owned up to.
“We had four turnovers and they were all on me, so I own that, and I’ve got to do my job and take care of the ball and not put our defense in tough spots,” Lawrence said. “Totally get that, but I’m never going to play scared. I’m going to continue to let it rip, and I think that’s why we have a chance at the end of the day — [it] is because you keep playing.
“So, never going to apologize for that. But I will say I cannot turn the ball over four times.”
Meanwhile, Etienne certainly did his part to help lift the Jaguars to a win Sunday, rushing 15 times for 86 yards while catching three of four targets for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Etienne, the 25th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, has now scored a touchdown in three straight games.
His seven total touchdowns through 11 games this season are the second most in a single season of his career, behind only his 12 total touchdowns in 2023.
The Jaguars hit the road again this Sunday to take on the Tennessee Titans (1-10) in Week 13.
