One local in-state prospect made his first game-day visit to Clemson last weekend.
Four-star WR Chanin Harris (Byrnes) made the quick trip up the road with his parents to take in the Tigers’ blowout win over Furman.
The dedication of the Clemson fan base, despite the disappointing season, stood out.
“Just the way the fans came out and supported and packed out the game,” Harris told The Clemson Insider. “The game was real packed out, even though they don’t have the good record and stuff. They still support.”
The 6-foot-1 wideout also liked what he saw from the offense and sees himself fitting nicely into the scheme.
“The way they spread the ball around on offense,” Harris said. “I like the way they spread the ball around to their receivers. I can see myself shining in that offense. Being able to score a lot of touchdowns, getting a lot of yards.”
Harris has camped at Clemson twice in the past, allowing him to work closely with receivers coach Tyler Grisham.
“He is a very energetic person,” Harris added. “That is the first thing that stands out to me about him. He really takes his time to break down stuff and teach you about the receiver position.”
Wake Forest, Florida State and ECU have also gotten game-day visits this season. The Pirates and Demon Deacons have already offered, as have Boston College and a number of G5 programs.
However, having grown up in the Upstate, Harris has always coveted an opportunity to play at Clemson.
“It would mean a lot,” Harris said. “It has been one of my dreams to get an offer from Clemson. It is close to home, and I would be somewhere I would be familiar with the area.”
