CLEMSON — Early signing day is Wednesday and for Clemson, the Tigers’ 2026 recruiting class is pretty much done.
There is one offer still out to three-star DE Michael Foster, who is currently committed to ECU, but it’s very likely he doesn’t sign until the later signing day in February. With Clemson expected to target at least one player at that position in the portal, and possibly two, by the time February rolls around, that need could already be addressed.
However, it does appear that some signing day drama may be on the horizon, and not the kind any Clemson fan wants to hear.
Four-star safety Kaden Gebhardt, who has been committed to Clemson since March, is being projected to flip to Ohio State, an interesting twist for a player who just one month ago told The Clemson Insider there was no chance he would decommit.
“I won’t be one of them,” Gebhardt said. “You don’t have to worry about me flipping.”
“To me, if you are not committed, then why are you committing? I just don’t get it. It is crazy.”
Gebhardt heading elsewhere would mean Clemson will have lost two of its three safety commits in this class. Four-star Blake Stewart decommitted in October, just before Gebhardt reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers with TCI.
Clemson was already expected to address the safety position in the portal, but if they do indeed lose a second one to a decommitment, it will be interesting to see if the staff decides to add more than one at the position.
The Tigers also lost three-star DE Dre Quinn in September. Quinn committed to Ohio State about two weeks back. Four-star DT Keshawn Stancil flipped to Miami just over a month ago, so Gebhardt would be the fourth decommitment in this class, with each one coming on the defensive side of the ball.
Outside of that, the rest of the class seems firmly intact, with all but a handful expected to be early enrollees. Four-star OL Adam Guthrie and four-star LB Brayden Reilly are two who aren’t expected to enroll until next summer. Guthrie told TCI he wants to stay in school to play one more season of basketball.
