Erik Bakich and the Clemson baseball program have lost a second player to the transfer portal in as many days.
True freshman C Skyler Hegler announced on Tuesday his intentions to enter the portal. The baseball portal window opened on Monday and runs through December 15.
“Thank you, Clemson, for the opportunity to play baseball,” Hegler posted to social media. “I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal to pursue new opportunities. Grateful for the memories and support! Excited for the next chapter!”
A native of Lancaster, South Carolina, Hegler originally committed to Clemson in November of 2021 and just signed with the Tigers as a part of the 2025 recruiting class.
Hegler is the second catcher in as many days to enter the portal, joining redshirt freshman Steele Burd.
With Jacob Jarrell back for one final season and Nate Savoie added over the offseason via the portal, the Tigers are pretty well set at the position for 2025. Junior Ty Marshall is also another option if needed.
