Lawrence, Etienne, Jaguars Sitting on Top

Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne and the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently in first place in their division entering the home stretch of the NFL season.

The pair of former Clemson stars helped the Jaguars improve to 8-4 with a 25-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Week 13.

It marked the third straight win for the Jaguars, who are now sitting atop the AFC South.

The Indianapolis Colts are 8-4 like the Jaguars, but the Jags own the tiebreaker due to having a better record against common opponents.

The Jags and Colts are set to square off next Sunday in Jacksonville, and the two teams will meet again in Week 17 in Indianapolis.

On Sunday against the Titans in Nashville, Lawrence went 16-of-27 passing for 229 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, while also rushing three times for 25 yards. The 2021 No. 1 overall pick ran for a two-point conversion as well.

“It feels good,” Lawrence said on CBS after the game. “That’s why you play. You put a lot of work in, in the offseason, training camp, to be in this position, to be able to control your own destiny and to play these big, meaningful games in November, December, January.

“So, can’t take any of them for granted. Took a lot of work to get here, and we still have a lot more work to do.”

Overall this season, Lawrence has completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 2,636 yards and 16 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He has also rushed for 235 yards and five more scores.

Etienne, meanwhile, ran 12 times for 28 yards and caught one pass for 13 yards on Sunday against the Titans.

The 25th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Etienne currently ranks 11th in the NFL in rushing yards (843) and has five rushing touchdowns to go with 173 receiving yards and two more scores through the air.

Etienne has now reached 1,000 scrimmage yards for the third time in the last four seasons. His 1,016 scrimmage yards are sixth most in the AFC this season.

The Jags have put themselves in a good position with five regular season games remaining, as they seek their first division title since 2022.
