With Avieon Terrell announcing his plans on Monday to forgo his senior season and enter next spring’s NFL Draft, many have wondered if the starting cornerback will play in the Pinstripe Bowl that pits Clemson against Penn State on December 27 at Yankee Stadium.
Dabo Swinney was asked about Terrell’s bowl plans, with the head coach noting he wasn’t exactly sure how that might play out just yet.
The Tigers begin bowl practice on Thursday, and Swinney will then have a better idea.
“We have our team meeting on Thursday, and that will be our first practice, and we will see where everybody is,” Swinney said on Tuesday during the Pinstripe Bowl Zoom call.
Terrell was injured during the first half of Clemson’s 28-14 win over the rival Gamecocks on November 29 and did not return. That could also impact Terrell’s availability for the bowl game matchup against the Nittany Lions.
“I am sure we have a couple of injury situations as well that we will have to deal with,” Swinney added. “We will get it all ready to go and head up to New York on the 22nd and get ready to play.”
Terrell is a current Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist and recorded 48 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and five forced fumbles this season.
