Clemson LB, NFL Legacy to Enter Portal

Clemson is set to lose this linebacker to the NCAA transfer portal.

Jamal Anderson plans to enter the portal, The Clemson Insider has confirmed.

There is only one transfer portal window this year for college football, and it opens on Jan. 2 and runs through Jan. 16.

As a junior this season, Anderson played in Clemson’s first four games, making one start, before taking a redshirt. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder recorded three tackles (one for loss) in the season opener vs. LSU, then added another three tackles vs. Troy. He was credited with a tackle for loss at Georgia Tech and made one tackle vs. Syracuse.

An NFL legacy, Anderson entered the 2025 season credited with 15 tackles (one for loss), one sack and a blocked punt in 123 defensive snaps over 27 career games (one start) from 2023-24.

He is the son of former NFL running back Jamal Anderson, who lettered at the University of Utah in 1992 and 1993 and went on to play eight NFL seasons for the Atlanta Falcons as a running back, recording four 1,000-yard seasons and earning first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 1998.

The younger Anderson committed to Clemson in June 2022 and enrolled in January 2023. The Mill Creek High School (Ga.) product was ranked as the No. 128 overall player in the nation for the 2023 recruiting class by ESPN, which also listed him as the No. 8 player in Georgia and the 12th-best outside linebacker in the nation.

Anderson becomes the second Clemson linebacker who plans to enter the portal, joining Dee Crayton.
