Former Clemson Standout Has Big Day for Bengals

Myles Murphy turned in one of his better days as a pro on Sunday.

Murphy tied a career-high with two sacks for Cincinnati (5-10) in the Bengals’ 24-0 loss to Baltimore. Murphy had just two sacks all season coming into the game, but he had registered 20 QB pressures over the last five games.

Murphy was the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, making him the 37th first-round selection in Clemson history. Over his first two seasons with Cincinnati, he was used in a reserve role, appearing in 30 games and recording three sacks, all of which came in his debut season.

This season, Murphy has appeared in 13 games, with six starts, and after his two sacks on Sunday, he now has 4.5 on the season.

A former blue-chip recruit, Murphy played just three seasons at Clemson after signing with the Tigers in December 2019. Durability wasn’t an issue with Murphy, who played in all but one of the Tigers’ 39 games after arriving on campus. He finished his college career with 119 tackles and led Clemson in sacks in his sophomore and junior seasons.
