Clemson Misses On One of Top Targets

Clemson will miss one of its top remaining linebacker targets.

Four-star Quinton Cypher (Millbrook, NC) has excluded the Tigers from his list of four finalists. Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and Miami all made the final cut.

In an interview with Rivals national analyst Chad Simmons, Cypher named the Buckeyes and Bulldogs as his top two schools and also talked about the possibility of announcing a commitment as early as later this month.

Cypher nabbed his offer after working out at camp in June, then returned for the season-opener against LSU. That was his last visit to campus. One source told TCI back in the middle of November that Clemson was one of the schools from Cypher’s original Top 11 that was going to be on the outside looking in.

Cypher is one of just four 2027 linebackers to pick up an offer from the Tigers. Four-star Max Brown was the first and committed days later. Five-star Kanden Henderon and five-star Cooper Witten are the other two players at the position to hold offers from Clemson.

With the Tigers already considered a long shot to land Witten and probably Henderson as well, it will be interesting to see who the staff turns to next.
