CLEMSON — While Clemson’s 2027 recruiting class got off to a pretty solid start, things have basically been in a holding pattern recently, as the Tigers struggled to a 7-5 regular season in 2025.
The class currently features five verbal pledges, with four-star in-state WR Trey Wimbley being the most recent to commit, announcing in early December. Clemson also already has its quarterback on board, with four-star Kharim Hughley committing in July. The Tigers also have four-star LB Max Brown, three-star CB Christian Chancellor and three-star safety Harrison Luke all in the fold.
The class currently ranks No. 9 nationally in the 247 Composite Rankings, but it’s unlikely to remain in the Top 10 for very long.
The Tigers are already going to miss on four-star LB Quinton Cypher, one of the top targets at the position. Clemson did not even make his list of finalists. Four-star safety target Marquis Bryant is also headed elsewhere, after announcing a commitment to North Carolina on Tuesday.
Now, another top target is trending in the opposite direction. Four-star DE Rashad Streets (Millbrook, NC) has said publicly that Alabama, Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee have started to separate themselves in his recruitment.
Streets is one of the top ends in the class and one of the Top 100 players overall. He visited Clemson for the season-opener against LSU and picked up an offer shortly thereafter.
“It would mean a lot,” Streets told TCI in a previous interview about a potential offer. “Just knowing the program itself, the background. How good they are. Like, historically, how good they are. Sending professional players out. That would be an honor.”
Streets is one of just four ends in the 2027 class to pick up an offer from the Tigers. At some point, the board will have to expand.
January is typically a busy month for high school recruiting. With coaches hitting the road to check on prospects, expect to see some movement in that regard in the near future.
