More Bad News for Clemson’s Rival

More bad news for the South Carolina football program.

Another Gamecocks starting offensive lineman is set to hit the NCAA transfer portal.

South Carolina redshirt junior offensive tackle Cason Henry plans to enter the portal after it opens on Jan. 2, and will have two years of eligibility left, according to CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder started the Gamecocks’ first four games this season prior to suffering a season-ending shoulder injury against Missouri on Sept. 20. He started all 13 games for South Carolina in 2024 and has started 18 of his 21 career games. His Gamecocks career was injury-plagued, as he played in only two games in 2023 due to a knee injury, after redshirting in 2022.

A native of Marietta, Ga., Henry joined the South Carolina program as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class.

Henry becomes the third Gamecocks offensive lineman planning to transfer.

The news of his plans to transfer comes on the heels of the news earlier this week that Gamecocks starting offensive lineman Trovon Baugh will enter the transfer portal as well. South Carolina offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, who made five starts this season, has also announced his decision to enter the portal.

Henry becomes the seventh player overall from the South Carolina roster to announce plans to enter the portal.
