Former Tiger Declares for 2026 NFL Draft

A former Clemson tight end has declared for the NFL Draft.

Sage Ennis officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft on Monday via an Instagram post.

Following four years in the Clemson football program from 2020-23, Ennis transferred to play for Virginia and former Clemson assistant Tony Elliott ahead of the 2024 season.

“I would like to specifically thank Coach Elliott for providing me with the opportunity to be a part of this program,” Ennis wrote as part of his Instagram post. “Thank you Coach [Des] Kitchings for the development and belief in me. Thank you to the rest of the coaching and support staff for the dedication in aiding me to become a better person and player.”

In 2024, Ennis appeared in the Cavaliers’ first four games and caught a pass for 2 yards before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

This season, Ennis played in 13 of UVA’s 14 games, starting 12 of them. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound graduate student recorded career-highs with 23 receptions, 214 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions.

His five TD catches tied for the team lead, and he finished the year by recording his best numbers with five catches for 35 yards in UVA’s 13-7 win over Missouri in the Gator Bowl this past Saturday.

Ennis caught six career passes for 77 yards in 449 offensive snaps over 41 games (two starts) during his four years at Clemson. In his final year with the Tigers in 2023, he had three receptions for 52 yards in 171 snaps over 10 games (one start). He was also a trusted blocker in the running game prior to suffering a season-ending knee injury vs. Georgia Tech.

The 2026 NFL Draft will take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
