Portal Player of Interest Headed Elsewhere

A few days after naming Clemson as one of the schools standing out, a portal defensive lineman announced a commitment elsewhere.

Auburn transfer Malik Blocton announced on Thursday that he will continue his career at LSU. On Monday, Blocton named Clemson, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Alabama as schools that were standing out.

Blocton was a Clemson target coming out of high school as a four-star prospect in the 2024 class.. He made multiple visits to campus during his recruitment.

The Tigers have since landed two interior defensive linemen of their own, with Blocton never even arranging a visit to Clemson. Oklahoma transfer Markus Strong and West Georgia transfer Kourtney Kelly have both landed with the Tigers as part of a movement to reshape Tom Allen’s defense.

Clemson has landed seven portal players this week, with all seven coming on the defensive side of the ball.
