For those wondering when Clemson might address the offensive side of the ball in the portal, that time might be now.
The Clemson Insider has confirmed that SMU transfer RB Chris Johnson Jr. will visit on Saturday. He is considered one of the faster backs in the country.
Johnson rushed 479 yards and four touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore with the Mustangs in 2025, averaging more than seven yards per carry. He also had 17 catches for another 180 yards and a score.
The 6-foot, 185-pound back originally was a one-time Clemson target coming out of high school, but he would go on to sign with Miami as a member of the 2023 recruiting class. He then redshirted during his debut season, before tallying six carries for 31 yards in 2024.
Clemson lost veteran reserve, Keith Adams Jr., to the portal following the regular season, meaning there is an open spot at the position.
