While we know a restructuring of the coaching staff has taken place on the defensive side of the ball for Clemson, head coach Dabo Swinney has yet to formally announce any changes since Mickey Conn was dismissed as safeties coach following the season.
What we do know is that Thomas Allen, who took on a larger role with the secondary last season, is now out on the road recruiting. Allen, who is also the son of defensive coordinator Tom Allen, is expected to take on a larger role with the safeties moving forward.
Allen and linebackers coach Ben Boulware made a stop at Halls in Tennessee to offer four-star safety Jarrell Chandler, who was last on campus for the season-opener against LSU.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder lists around two dozen total offers. As a junior in 2025, Chandler impressed on both sides of the ball while recording 109 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 23 pass breakups and an interception, along with four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. He also had 766 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
Allen also made a stop at North Gwinnett (GA) recently.
Swinney has also been making the rounds. The head coach has been in to see several prospects. One of those stops was at Gainesville in Georgia to see four-star quarterback commit Kharim Hughley. Matt Luke and Tajh Boyd accompanied Swinney on that visit.
Swinney and Luke were also at Posquon in Virginia to visit with four-star offensive line target Carter Jones. The blue-chip talent picked up one of the Tigers’ opening offers last summer and has long been a priority target for Luke.
Four-star offensive line target Peyton Miller (Anna, TX) tells TCI that he is expecting a school stop from Swinney and Luke at some point next week. Luke did an in-home visit with Miller last week.
Swinney also made a stop at North Oconee to visit with three-star safety commit Harrison Luke, who is the son of offensive line coach Matt Luke. Luke committed to the Tigers back in September.
