Clemson Vaults up National Analyst’s Power 37

NCAA.com’s Andy Katz released his new men’s basketball Power 37 rankings this week, stacking up the 37 best teams in the sport.

Clemson (20-4, 10-1 ACC) vaulted up Katz’s power rankings, moving up eight spots from No. 26 to No. 18.

“The Tigers have won four in a row, including a 22-point win at Cal to get the Bay Area sweep,” Katz wrote.

With a 66-64 win at Stanford this past Wednesday, followed by a 77-55 victory at Cal on Saturday, Clemson became just the third team to sweep Stanford and Cal on its West Coast swing (Wake Forest last season and Duke this season).

Brad Brownell’s Tigers have won 13 of their last 14 games overall, and they have won 14 consecutive ACC road games dating back to last season – tied for the second longest streak in ACC history (Duke from 1962-64).

Clemson is currently in a first-place tie with Duke (21-2, 10-1 ACC) in the conference standings.

The Tigers are ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 18 in the Coaches Poll.

Clemson returns to the court on Wednesday when it hosts Virginia Tech at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson (7 p.m., ACC Network), before the Tigers travel to face Duke on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. (12 p.m., ESPN).

Duke is the No. 3 team in Katz’s latest rankings, with Arizona (No. 1), Michigan (No. 2), Illinois (No. 4) and St. John’s (No. 5) making up the rest of the top five.

Along with Clemson and Duke, other ACC teams in Katz’s Power 37 rankings include North Carolina (No. 13), Virginia (No. 28), NC State (29) and Louisville (No. 30).
