Sports Illustrated (SI) recently released their projected Top 100 NFL players for the upcoming 2026 season.
Two Lawrences from Clemson – Trevor and Dexter – made the top 70 of SI’s top 100 projected players of 2026.
Following an outstanding 2025 campaign – his fifth with the Jacksonville Jaguars – Trevor Lawrence landed at No. 44 on the list.
In 2025, after years of battling injuries, enduring coaching changes and facing “generational” prospect expectations, Lawrence was seen living up to the hype that made him the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2021.
Lawrence finished the year having completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 4,007 yards and a career-high 29 touchdown passes with 12 interceptions. He also recorded career highs in carries (82), rushing yards (359) and rushing touchdowns (nine) while accounting for a career-high 38 total touchdowns – the third-best mark in the NFL behind only Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (46) and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (39).
Lawrence clearly made strides throughout the 2025 season as he got more and more comfortable in first-year Jaguars head coach Liam Coen’s offense. He was stellar over the second half of the season during Jacksonville’s eight-game winning streak – and was especially at his best down the stretch of the regular season, as he earned AFC Offensive Player of the Month for December and the final regular season game on Jan. 4, after going 105-of-165 passing for 1,371 yards, 13 touchdowns and just one interception in his team’s final five games, while also rushing for 124 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries over those contests.
“Lawrence continued to struggle with consistency in his fifth season, but he had an impressive second half and guided the Jaguars to an AFC South title,” SI’s Gilberto Manzano wrote. “There’s something special brewing with Lawrence and first-year coach Liam Coen, who helped unlock the vast skill set of the 2021 No. 1 pick. Lawrence completed 60.9% of his passes for 4,007 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.”
Meanwhile, former Clemson star Dexter Lawrence checked in at No. 70 among SI’s projected top 100 players for the 2026 season.

By his lofty standards, the 6-foot-4, 340-pound defensive tackle is coming off a disappointing 2025 campaign, his seventh with the New York Giants. In 17 games (all starts), Lawrence tallied 31 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits, four passes defended and an interception that he returned 37 yards.
Lawrence’s number of sacks, tackles and quarterback hits in 2025 were all career lows. However, there’s no doubt that Lawrence has established himself as a dominant presence on the interior of the Giants’ defensive line.
Prior to the 2025 season, Lawrence collected three straight Pro Bowl selections from 2022-24 and also earned All-Pro honors in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He became the first Giants player to be voted to three straight Pro Bowls since safety Landon Collins from 2016-18, and if he hadn’t suffered a season-ending elbow injury in 2024, he could have very well earned his third consecutive All-Pro selection as well.
Heading into his eighth NFL season in 2026 – which will be his first season under new Giants head coach John Harbaugh — Lawrence has racked up 341 total tackles, 40 tackles for loss and 30.5 sacks in 109 career games (102 starts) since being selected by the Giants in the first round (17th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
“The way Lawrence rushes the passer at his size isn’t usual,” Manzano wrote. “The 342-pound interior lineman had 21 combined sacks from 2022 to ’24. He is, however, coming off a down season, recording only a half sack in ’25. But Lawrence offers more than pass rush. He’s a well-rounded defender, who might benefit from the arrival of coach John Harbaugh.”
