CLEMSON — Following Clemson’s fourth straight loss to Florida State last Saturday, veteran guard Dillon Hunter emphasized how the program experiencing lows is not a new phenomenon. Referencing Clemson’s Elite Eight run in the 2024 season, Hunter noted the adversity that they faced as he recalled that people don’t talk about those times.
The Tigers lost three of their last four games before heading into the NCAA Tournament that year, including an embarrassing loss to Boston College in the ACC Tournament.
“You’re going to have ups and downs. You just have to stay level through everything,” he said. “It’s a part of life. We’re coming back to compete.”
Hunter was Clemson’s second leading scorer with 13 points trailing one of Ace Buckner’s ACC high 15 points. The natural ebbs and flows of team morale following a loss was a point that Hunter described.
“Team morale can always go down with those types of losses,” he said.
Clemson’s head coach Brad Brownell spoke on the continued efforts of veterans like Hunter and forward R.J. Godfrey in keeping the team’s morale up.

Brownell noted the leadership on this team is a testament to how the Tigers plan to push through this down period. Hunter and Godfrey saw a familiar face, but in a different jersey as they reunited with former teammate Chauncey Wiggins.
The now FSU forward was once repping the orange and white, however, he made his exit from the Tigers’ program following the 2024-2025 season.
“It’s all love. We talked a little bit on the floor,” Hunter said. “There’s no bad blood. We loved seeing him back here.”
Florida State head coach Luke Loucks liked Wiggins’ mentality going into the game. Wiggins scored seven points in his return to Clemson.
“It wasn’t his best game. It certainly was not his worst game,” Loucks said.
The Tigers are looking to find their footing following a series of losses and hope to get back on track. They will try to do so against No. 24 Louisville on Saturday (2 p.m.) at Littlejohn Coliseum.
