Clemson Drops Out of Coaches Poll

The latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll was released on Monday, and as expected, Clemson is no longer in it.

The Tigers (20-8, 10-5 ACC) dropped out of the Coaches Poll Top 25 after previously being ranked No. 24 last week.

Last week, Clemson also dropped out of the AP Top 25 after previously being ranked No. 20 in that poll.

Now, Clemson is among the teams outside the top 25 receiving votes in the Coaches Poll, but the Tigers received only one vote this week.

The Tigers have gone ice cold of late, having lost four straight games — vs. Virginia Tech on Feb. 11, at Duke on Feb. 14, at Wake Forest on Feb. 18, and most recently, a 70-65 defeat at the hands of Florida State this past Saturday at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson.

It marks the first time the Tigers have lost four games in a row since the 2021-22 season, and the current losing streak comes on the heels of a hot stretch for the Tigers.

Prior to the four straight losses, the Tigers had won 13 of their last 14 games. Before the loss at Duke, Clemson had won 14 consecutive ACC road games dating back to last season – tied for the second longest streak in ACC history (Duke from 1962-64).

Brad Brownell’s Tigers return to the court on Saturday when they host Louisville at Littlejohn Coliseum (2 p.m., ESPN2).

Clemson is currently in fifth place in the ACC standings behind Duke (13-1 ACC), Virginia (12-2 ACC), Miami (10-4 ACC) and NC State (10-4 ACC).
