Clemson defensive tackle DeMonte Capehart ran the 40-yard dash on Thursday, when defensive linemen worked out at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Capehart recorded an unofficial time of 4.85 seconds on his first 40-yard dash attempt, and then an unofficial time of 4.86 on his second attempt.
Capehart checked in at 6-foot-5, 313 pounds at the combine. His official 4.85 40 time ranks as the fourth-best time among defensive tackles.
“With Capehart, the background I was given was it won’t necessarily look pretty with his running style, but he’s gonna run a lot faster than you think,” NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah said during the network’s coverage of the combine. “He had the head going up and down. There was a lot of movement, but he got out the gates quick and also had a closing gear that I didn’t know he had.”
Capehart spent six years at Clemson from 2020-25 and contributed on three ACC Championship teams.
He was a staple on the Tigers’ defensive front the past two seasons, starting 12 games and appearing in 23.
During his career, he was credited with 88 tackles (13.5 for loss), three sacks, five pass breakups and a forced fumble over 57 games.
In 2025, Capehart posted 29 tackles (three for loss), one sack and two pass breakups in 344 snaps across 12 games, including six starts.
The 2026 NFL Draft will take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
Capehart also finished third among defensive tackles with his 33.5-inch vertical jump.
