Clemson Makes Splash With New Coach

CLEMSON — It appears Dabo Swinney has found a new coach to run his special teams.

The Clemson Insider has confirmed that Rich Bisaccia will become Clemson’s new special teams coordinator. The last three seasons, he served as the Green Bay Packers associate head coach and special teams coordinator, and in 2021 was the Packers’ special teams coordinator.

Bisaccia is considered one of the more respected special teams coordinators in the country.

Prior to working at Green Bay, Bisaccia was the special teams coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders. In 2021, he served as the Raiders interim head coach, as he led them to a 7-5 record in that role and led them to the NFL Playoffs.

If Bisaccia’s name sounds familiar, it should. He served as Tommy West’s running backs and special teams coach from 1994-’98 at Clemson. The 65-year old, also coached at South Carolina from 1988-’93, where he worked at six different positions and also served as the Gamecocks’ special teams coach.

Bisaccia also had a stop at Ole Miss (1999-’01) and a brief stay at Auburn (2013).

The Yonkers, N.Y., native worked for Tampa Bay in many capacities from 2002-’10, but was always the team’s special teams coordinator. He helped the Buccaneers win a Super Bowl in 2002.

Bisaccia was also the special teams coordinator for the San Diego Chargers (2011-’12) and the Dallas Cowboys (2013-’17) until he went to work for the Raiders in 2018. He stayed with the Raiders until 2021.
