Clemson Target No Longer Planning to Attend Elite Retreat

DJ Huggins is no longer an under the radar Clemson recruiting target.

The three-star wideout (Harrison, GA) picked up an offer from the Tigers back in October after visiting for the SMU game. At the time, it marked his first Power-4 offer. Since then, things have changed.

As reported back in January, Huggins secured his second Power-4 offer from Georgia while he was on an unofficial visit. That offer changed the complexion of his recruitment.

“It is a big one, and I am grateful for the offer for sure,” Huggins told The Clemson Insider at the time. “Haven’t really had a chance to process it, to be honest.”

Georgia Tech, Florida State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are some of the other offers he’s picked up since.

Now, we have another new development. Back in early January, Huggins told TCI he was going to be on hand for the Elite Retreat, which takes place on Saturday. Those plans have changed, with TCI being informed that he is no longer planning to attend.

As a junior, Huggins had 74 catches for 1,127 yards with 12 touchdowns. he averaged 16.8 yards per reception and 102.5 yards per game.

The Tigers already hold a commitment from four-star receiver Trey Wimbley, who reclassified from the 2028 class to the 2027 class. Huggins has been one of the top remaining targets, along with four-star Jamarin Simmons, who is scheduled to be back on campus Saturday.
