CLEMSON — Clemson’s pitching staff, which has been extremely effective over the first three weeks of the season, is about to get a boost.
During an appearance on WCCP The Roar on Tuesday, head coach Erik Bakich announced right-handed hurler Dane Moehler has been fully cleared to return and that he could be back as early as this weekend.
“He wants to pitch,” Bakich said. “He got cleared, and we thought March would be the month that he would be back, so I think we will see him hopefully as early as this week.”
Moehler suffered a season-ending torn UCL just before the start of last season. Despite being a true freshman, he was expected to be a part of the Tigers’ starting rotation.
Bakich had previously said on multiple occasions that they were hoping to have Moehler back in March, and that once he returned, he’d be on the “Talan Bell plan” from last year. Bell was on a strict pitch count in 2025 after he’d returned from a similar injury.
Moehler will join a pitching staff that has a team ERA of 1.80 through the first three weeks of the season, and opponents are hitting just .154 against the Tigers. Clemson pitchers have struck out 109 hitters through 106 innings pitched with just 26 walks.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday against Michigan State at Fluor Field in Greenville. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
