Moehler Set to Make Second Start

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Dane Moehler is getting set to make his second career start for Clemson.

After the Tigers’ 3-1 win at College of Charleston on Tuesday, Erik Bakich announced that Moehler will serve as the opener against The Citadel on Wednesday, while freshman Eston Simpson will follow. Simpson has made three midweek starts this season.

“Dane Moehler is going to be the opener and Eston Simpson will be behind him,” Bakich said after the win over CofC.

Moehler made his collegiate debut in a start against LaSalle on March 7. With the right-hander coming back from an elbow injury sustained about a week before the start of the 2025 season, he went just one inning, pitching to four batters. Expect the redshirt sophomore to remain on a strict pitch count again on Wednesday.

Before coming to Clemson, Moehler was ranked as the No. 10 right-handed pitcher in Georgia his senior year and was an all-state selection. He was the No. 135 righty in the nation, according to Perfect Game, as well as his region’s pitcher of the year.

His father, Brian, spent 14 years in the Major Leagues as a pitcher, recording three shutouts over his career with four teams.

No. 19 Clemson and The Citadel will square off at Riley Park in Charleston on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
