Clemson Draft Prospect Draws Lofty NFL Comparison

Former Clemson wide receiver and 2026 NFL Draft prospect Antonio Williams drew a lofty NFL comparison from this national outlet.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) pegged Williams as a potential mid-to-late-round wide receiver gem, likening him to current Detroit Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Since being drafted by the Lions out of Southern Cal in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft (No. 112 overall pick), St. Brown has amassed 547 receptions for 6,252 yards and 44 touchdowns across his first five NFL campaigns, while earning four straight Pro Bowl honors (2022-25) and three straight All-Pro selections (2023-25).

Here’s what PFF’s Lauren Gray wrote about the similarities between St. Brown and Williams:

“Williams is 2 inches shorter than St. Brown (6-foot-1) but has graded equally well from the slot, with a ninth-ranked 92.3 PFF receiving grade. His PFF receiving grade on the outside (62.7) is also similar to St. Brown’s coming out of college.

“In all, Williams caught 130 passes for 1,519 yards and 15 scores over his final two seasons. He averaged 9.1 depth yards per target but still tied for 13th in explosive gains (41) and averaged 2.14 yards per route run.

“Like St. Brown, Williams finished with 70.0-plus PFF receiving grades in multiple target situations. He performed well against both coverage schemes in 2025 (75.6 PFF receiving grade against man, 74.1 against zone) and ranks in the top 15 in the draft class in pressure (75.7) and blitz situations (83.4) since 2024.

“Williams boasts 70.0-plus PFF receiving grades at every level of the field in that span, including an eighth-ranked 92.8 mark on deep passes.”

PFF cited the draft concerns for Williams as being “route refinement, limited acceleration and burst, and injury history.”

NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks ranks Williams as the fifth-best slot receiver prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft, which is set to take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.

“Antonio Williams is an underrated offensive weapon with electric catch-and-run skills,” Brooks wrote. “A punt returner with jitterbug moves, Williams could shine as a WR3 in a scheme that extensively features quick-rhythm throws.”

Williams caught 55 passes for 604 yards and four touchdowns over 10 games (all starts) this past season, earning third-team All-ACC honors. He also rushed 13 times for 78 yards and a touchdown, completed a 75-yard touchdown pass and gained 44 yards on four punt returns.

A two-time All-ACC selection, Williams tallied 2,336 yards and 21 touchdowns on 208 career receptions, while rushing 25 times for 187 yards and two touchdowns across 43 games (38 starts) in his Tiger career from 2022-25. He was also credited with 39 career punt returns for 351 yards and went 4-for-4 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

In 2025, Williams became the fifth player in Clemson history to record 200 career receptions. The Irmo, S.C., native completed his career ranked fourth in career receptions and also leaves Clemson tied for the fourth-most touchdown receptions in school history. He became the 17th player in Clemson history to reach 2,000 career receiving yards and recorded a catch in each of his first 33 career games at Clemson, the seventh-longest streak in school history.

Clemson legend DeAndre Hopkins is a fan of Williams, as he recently expressed on social media.
