Injury Update On Tryston McCladdie

Tryston McCladdie took a pitch off his face in Clemson’s series-clinching win over Stanford on Sunday.

The Tigers’ utility man left the contest and did not play in Monday’s 6-4 win over Santa Clara.

During Monday’s broadcast, the Clemson Athletic Network disclosed McCladdie suffered multiple fractures, but the injury will not require surgery. He was in uniform on Monday night in Santa Clara, despite not playing.

McCladdie has been one of the most consistent hitters in the lineup, sporting an average of .339 with eight home runs and 35 RBI. His eight long balls are the third-most on the team. McCladdie was also 13-of-14 on stolen base attempts prior to the injury.

McCladdie started the season at third base before moving to centerfield. He then moved to second for the Stanford series over the weekend.

No official timeline has been given regarding a return to action.

The Tigers are already without Collin Priest and Jarren Purify. Priest has been out all season with a hamstring injury, while Purify has missed the past two weeks due to a broken hand after being hit by a pitch during the Notre Dame series.
