Chandler Morris has officially declared for the NFL Draft.
The Virginia quarterback – and son of Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris – announced Wednesday his declaration for the 2026 NFL Draft.
“What a blessing it was to get the opportunity to play the sport I love at such an amazing university,” Chandler wrote in an Instagram post. “I want to say thank you to Coach Elliott and his staff for taking a chance on me. Thank you to all of my teammates for believing in me and the effort they gave each and every day. UVA will always be home. Thank you, Virginia.”
On April 2, a Virginia judge denied a preliminary injunction for Morris, denying him a seventh year of college eligibility for the 2026 season. In late February, he filed a lawsuit against the NCAA in Virginia state court for a seventh year of eligibility. Morris, 25, took that legal action after his waiver for a seventh year was denied by the NCAA in early January.
Chandler is coming off his one and only year at Virginia in 2025, leading the Cavaliers to an ACC title game appearance and a program-record 11 victories, the last of which was a win over Missouri in the Gator Bowl. Morris earned Gator Bowl MVP honors.
For the season, Morris completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,000 yards and 16 touchdowns with nine interceptions, while also rushing for 245 yards and five more scores on the ground.
Morris came to UVA to play for former Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott after playing at North Texas in 2024. Before that, Morris was at TCU from 2021-23. He began his college career at Oklahoma in 2020.
In his college career, Chandler threw for 9,185 and 63 touchdowns with 26 interceptions. He also rushed for 887 yards and 15 touchdowns.
