The writing has been on the wall for awhile now that Clemson and Tre Segarra would not be a match.
The four-star in-state RB, out of Byrnes, was the first player at his position to pick up an offer from the Tigers last summer, and he was the only back that held one for several months. He’s also been on campus multiple times, including for the Elite Retreat last month.
However, Segarra has been reluctant to schedule an official visit with Clemson, and on Friday, he left the Tigers off his list of finalists, which included South Carolina, Indiana, Penn State, Tennessee and Stanford.
247 ranks Segarra No. 121 overall, No. 5 among all running backs in the 2027 class and No. 2 in the Palmetto State.
Clemson still has offers out to four-star Andrew Beard and four-star Gary Walker, and both are scheduled to be at the big official visit weekend May 29-31.
