More Bad News for South Carolina

Clemson’s in-state rival, South Carolina, got more bad news on the recruiting front Monday.

The Gamecocks’ 2027 recruiting class has taken another big hit, as in-state, four-star wide receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray de-committed from Shane Beamer’s program Monday.

Kelly-Murray, who holds more than three dozen total offers, had been committed to South Carolina since March 13.

In 13 games as a junior last year, he recorded 64 receptions for 957 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also rushing 16 times for 98 yards and adding a punt return touchdown.

Kelly-Murray’s de-commitment comes on the heels of South Carolina losing another major 2027 commitment Aamaury Fountain over the weekend. Fountain, a four-star cornerback from Georgia, flipped to Florida on Saturday.

Rivals ranks Kelly-Murray as the 29th-best wide receiver and the No. 202 overall prospect in the 2027 class, while Fountain is ranked by Rivals as the fourth-best cornerback nationally and the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2027 class.

After losing those Kelly-Murray and Fountain, the Gamecocks are down to just two commitments in their 2027 class – four-star safety Jernard Albright and three-star quarterback Jerry Meyer III.
