Former Tiger LS Signs Undrafted Free Agent Deal

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney believed that Philip Florenzo would have a chance to play in the NFL.

The former Tiger long snapper is now getting that opportunity.

Following the 2026 NFL Draft, Florenzo signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Florenzo joined Clemson as a walk-on in the fall of 2021 and appeared in 54 career games, while being credited with 16 career tackles and a fumble recovery.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder from Towson, Md., made his Clemson debut vs. UConn in November 2021, snapping on the Tigers’ final PAT of the game. A year later, he earned the starting long snapper job on placekicks prior to the season opener against Georgia Tech and served as the short snapper on special teams in all 14 games.

In 2023, Florenzo was named Clemson’s starting long snapper for punts coming out of fall camp and snapped in all 13 games. He once again assumed starting long snapping duties for punts in 2024 and 2025 and snapped in 26 of the Tigers’ 27 games over the past two seasons — the only game he didn’t appear in was The Citadel game in November 2024, when Clemson didn’t punt.

“Florenzo, he’s a weapon now,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said. “He’s a snapper but he gives us a lot in coverage. He’s made a couple big, big plays for us… He’s a really good athlete. He’ll have a chance to play in the NFL at that position because he’s a good snapper and he’s a factor in the coverage game.”
