TCI Recruiting Roundup: New Developments at Cornerback

With one cornerback on the board scratching his Clemson official visit, the Tigers went and expanded the board late Tuesday.

Four-star CB Bryce Williams will no longer be attending the big official visit weekend, May 29-31, according to Rivals’ recruiting analyst Chad Simmons. Williams will instead be at Oklahoma that weekend.

For weeks, this was a battle between Clemson and Nebraska, but it is now the Sooners that every other school is chasing.

With Williams scratching his visit, Clemson expanded the board, with three-star in-state corner Aidyn Wiggins (Byrnes) announcing an offer late Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1 defensive back has seen his recruitment explode in recent weeks and is quickly approaching the 30-offer mark. Auburn, Wisconsin, Rutgers and LSU have all offered this month after he ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the UA Next camp stop in Charlotte two weeks ago. Syracuse, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, North Carolina and NC State were some of the other schools to offer during the spring.

Current Official Visit Schedule

  • Rutgers: May 29
  • Syracuse: June 5
  • Cincinnati: June 12
  • Virginia Tech: June 19

Clemson will host its big official visit weekend, May 29-31, then host a handful of officials two weeks later, the weekend of June 12. It’s probably a pretty safe bet that Wiggins tweaks his schedule and gives the Tigers one of his officials.
