Top In-State Prospect Says Recruitment ‘Open for Everybody’

Christian Webb-Scott is quickly growing into one of the most heavily pursued defensive ends in the next recruiting cycle.

The four-star, in-state talent, began his high school career at Buford (GA) before transferring to Westside for the 2025 campaign.

After an impressive showing at the UA Next camp in Charlotte a little over a week ago, Webb-Scott received an invite to the Under Armour All-American Game.

The 6-foot-6, 244-pound edge rusher visited Clemson a couple of times last fall and has been a frequent visitor to camp every summer. This summer will be no different, with Webb-Scott planning to return for camp again next month.

“Just the coaching staff,” Webb-Scott told The Clemson Insider when asked what makes him keep coming back. “How they care about you off the field, making sure if football does not work out, there is always a path for you somehow.”

With Webb-Scott being a member of the 2028 recruiting class, contact between him and the coaches at Clemson is limited. Expect that communication to ramp up on June 15, when coaches can start contacting players in that class directly.

Despite that, the message from assistants Chris Rumph and Nick Eason has been clear.

“Just wanting me to know they love me and still wanting me to come to campus,” Webb-Scott said. “That they would love for me to come play for them one day.”

Rivals ranks the blue-chip talent No. 120 overall, No. 12 among all edge rushers in the class and as the top player in the Palmetto State.

Webb-Scott already has close to three dozen offers, with almost every big-boy football program showing strong interest. When the Tigers start offering 2028 prospects next month, Webb-Scott likely lands one.

“That is just their process. Every school is different,” he said. “Just them letting me know I am on their radar, it doesn’t hurt them in their recruitment of me at all. I know they are very selective. That would mean a lot to me.”

On top of his plans to camp at Clemson, Webb-Scott said he also is planning to camp at Ole Miss, Texas A&M and South Carolina and it’s the rival Gamecocks he says are setting the pace early.

“South Carolina stands out a lot to me,” Webb-Scott said. “Because they have been there the longest, since the summer going into my freshman year. But my recruitment is definitely open for everybody.”
