Highly-Touted DB Commits to Clemson

Clemson has added a big piece to its 2027 recruiting class.

Four-star safety Jarrell Chandler (Halls, TN) announced a commitment on Monday, choosing the Tigers over Miami, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Throughout the spring, the 6-foot-2 defensive back seemed like a lock to Tennessee. However, Clemson was able to get some late momentum and secure a recruiting win over a couple of big boy programs.

Chandler was one of numerous prospects on hand for the Elite Retreat back in March, and he’s been on the docket to attend the big official visit weekend, May 29-31. He picked up his offer from the Tigers back in January.

Defensive coordinator Tom Allen, defensive pass game coordinator Thomas Allen and safeties coach Nolan Turner all visited with Chandler at his high school last Monday.

Rivals ranks Chandler No. 91 overall and No. 6 among all safeties in the class. He becomes the eighth member of Clemson’s 2027 class and second safety, joining three-star Harrison Luke. Chandler also becomes the second player in the 2027 class to rank inside the Top 100 at Rivals, joining four-star LB Bryce Kish.
