Clemson Lands New Portal Pickup

The Clemson baseball program has landed a new pickup in the transfer portal.

Georgia Southern transfer catcher/outfielder Bennett Edwards announced his commitment to the Tigers on Monday.

“I’m blessed to announce that I will be pursuing my dream of playing baseball at Clemson University,” Edwards wrote on social media. “I’m so grateful for the coaching staff for giving me this opportunity! Go Tigers 🐅”

Edwards was named to the 2026 Sun Belt All-Freshman Team after finishing his first college season with a .287 average and .381 on-base percentage, to go with three home runs, six doubles, 16 RBI, 31 runs scored and nine stolen bases.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder played in 49 games, including 44 starts for the Eagles. At the midway point of the season, Edwards was batting .400 and was atop the league in multiple categories offensively. The Eagles’ second-half leadoff man had 50 hits this year while also throwing out six runners from behind the dish defensively.

Edwards ended his opening season with 15 multi-hit games, the fifth-most by an Eagle in 2026. He enjoyed a stretch of seven straight multi-hit games in mid-March, going 15-for-28 with eight RBIs, a double and two homers during that span.

Edwards was a three-year letterwinner at Laurens District 55 High School in Laurens, S.C. He was named All-Region his final three year of high school and was also a South Carolina All-State selection his junior and senior year.
