Clemson’s big official visit weekend is in the books and we have already started to see some of the returns.
The Tigers landed two commitments over the weekend, with three-star wideout Julian Cromartie announcing on Friday and four-star edge Santana Harvey following suit on Saturday. That takes the total number of verbal pledges over the past two weeks to eight.
I expect Clemson’s momentum to carry on throughout the next few days. Four-star offensive lineman JJ Brown has moved his commitment date up to Monday, coming off his weekend visit to campus. Georgia was trending heavily for the blue-chip talent throughout the spring, but the Tigers have now swayed that in their favor. He was supposed to be in Athens this coming weekend for an official, followed by a stop at Auburn, then one at Kentucky. Barring some last-minute change, expect those visits to be scratched.
The Tigers are also trending heavily with three-star edge JiQuan Rogers. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder still has official visits scheduled with Colorado, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and Florida. However, I am skeptical that any of those take place at this point. I lean heavily towards thinking Rogers is a Clemson commit before the end of the week.
The Tigers certainly made an impression on four-star edge Desmond Malpress this weekend, as well. In-state rival South Carolina has been trending since his official visit to Columbia at the beginning of May. Georgia Tech and Florida State are also scheduled to get officials. There just might be a new leader in town.
Three-star tight end Nicholas Pollack was also on campus over the weekend. Clemson already has a commitment from three-star Carter Blackwell, but the expectation is that Pollack will join the class at some point. Cincinnati, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Sanford represent his other offers, and Pollack has yet to schedule any other official visits.
The Tigers have been trending with three-star cornerback Bryant Robinson for weeks. Before this weekend’s trip to Clemson, he’d already taken an official to Arizona State. Texas Tech and Arizona are also slated to get officials. Robinson is one of those guys who is hard to get a good read on, so we will have to wait and see whether he plans to follow through with any more visits.
