Clemson Hosting Portal Target

CLEMSON — Erik Bakich needs to retool his roster and the head coach is wasting no time in trying to do just that.

After a disappointing 2026 season that saw the Tigers miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the Bakich era, several players have entered the transfer portal, including what was arguably the team’s best hitter, Nate Savoie.

The Clemson Insider has learned that Bakich hosted Toledo transfer infielder Troy Sudbrook on Wednesday. Sudbrook led the NCAA with 32 doubles this season. Nobody on the Clemson team hit more than 14.

Sudbrook, a left-handed hitter, started all 60 games at Toledo in 2026, hitting .373 with 11 home runs and 71 RBI. He had a slugging percentage of .665 and he stole 13 bases.

With Jason Fultz being another player to have entered the portal, the Tigers are in need of a third baseman, and Sudbrook would certainly fit that need.

Clemson has already landed one portal commitment with Georgia Southern transfer Bennett Edwards announcing on Monday.

Sudbrook currently has one season of eligibility left.
