Swinney Camp Notebook: Day 3 Afternoon Session

CLEMSON — When hundreds of high school prospects reconvened for the afternoon session of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp on Friday, there was one visitor no one was expecting.

One week after competing at the Elite 11 finals, four-star QB Kharim Hughley (Gainesville, GA) was not only on campus, but he also took part in the camp. It’s certainly not the first time a committed player has worked out at camp, but it doesn’t happen all that often. Offensive lineman Brayden Jacobs did the same a summer ago.

Hughley showed off that deep ball of his during one of the drills, continuously hitting receivers in stride. The pass catchers did not always come down with the catch, but the balls were absolutely on target. At one point, wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham told one of the receivers, “That is our quarterback, that ball is out,” after he was late getting his head turned around on an out route.

There is a lot to like about Hughley’s skill set. From his footwork to his delivery to his accuracy. He makes the intermediate throws and the deep ones. And Chad Morris and Tajh Boyd were both constantly in his ear.

– Four-star S Dion Edwards (Tyner Academy, TN) worked out this morning. Edwards is a Top 100 talent and ranked as one of the five best ATHs in the 2028 class. The coaches had a close eye on him. Colorado, Oregon and Notre Dame are just a few of his close to 20 offers.

– 2028 WR Keronte Cunningham worked out at both sessions. He is a teammate of Edwards at Tyner. Spent some time watching him this afternoon, and he can move. He is also very put together, particularly the bottom half. Colorado offered last month.

– 2028 wideout Kaydan Whiteside (Asheville, NC) had a really good afternoon. The 5-foot-11 receiver is shifty and he has that twitch. Georgia, South Carolina, Wake Forest and Duke have all offered.

– 2029 in-state QB Bear Woods (Westside) worked out this afternoon. Woods is the younger brother of current South Carolina QB Cutter Woods. Woods had a strong finish after some of his early throws were a little off-target. South Carolina, Louisville, North Carolina, Syracuse and Wake Forest have all offered.

– 2027 WR London McElroy (Ambassador Christian, NC) made his first visit to campus after receiving an invite from Grisham. McElroy had a solid showing for himself and is a really precise route runner. Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest are some of the schools to have pulled the trigger.

– 2028 DE Quinn Jacobs (Blessed Trinity, GA) worked out again this afternoon. The younger brother of current OL Brayden Jacobs is expected to be back again on Saturday.

– 2027 OL Reece Honaker (Radford, VA) is back at camp this weekend. He has been camping at Clemson since the 8th grade. Virginia has been showing some interest of late to go along with several FCS offers.
