4-Star Comes Off Board, 2028 Offers Slowly Going Out

CLEMSON — With Clemson being so hot on the recruiting trail over the last three weeks, there wasn’t much attention to one of the Tigers’ targets coming off the board on Friday.

Four-star DE Cahron Wheeler (St. Paul’s, MD) announced a commitment to Florida on Friday while on an official visit. Wheeler was on hand for Clemson’s big official visit gathering last weekend.

However, despite Wheeler heading elsewhere, the Tigers have picked up commitments from three different defensive ends in the past week. Four-star Santana Harvey announced on Friday, with four-star Desmond Malpress and three-star JiQuan Rogers both joining the class this week.

Clemson’s 2027 class currently features 22 verbal pledges, with 247 ranking it No. 6 in the nation.

With the calendar turning to June on Monday, the 2028 offers have started to go out, but so far, it’s been a slow drip.

Five-star DE Asher Ghioto and four-star LB and legacy recruit Jay Schell both announced offers on Monday, one day before the start of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp. Both players have visited numerous times in the past.

Since the start of camp on Tuesday, only two more have gone out, with four-star safety Giovanni Tuggle announcing one after working out on Friday morning.

Three-star DE Quinn Jacobs also announced one late Friday. Jacobs is the younger brother of current OL Brayden Jacobs.

Once camp wraps up on Saturday, and the coaches have evaluated all of the options to have come through, expect more to start rolling out.

One of the more interesting storylines each June revolves around which quarterback or quarterbacks the Tigers decide to pursue, and this week has been no different. Several high-caliber 2028 signal callers have already worked out this week, including four-stars Trey Wright, Tristin Gaines, Luke Rubley and Trace Hawkins. Wright and Gaines are certainly names worth monitoring based on their performances this week.
