Swinney Camp Notebook: Day 4 Afternoon Session

CLEMSON — The final workout of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp is officially in the books. Weekend campers will wrap things up with the Swinney Ball championships later this evening, before departing campus.

The afternoon session on Saturday was highlighted by a fast-rising in-state running back. 2029 prospect Brayden Boults (Crestwood) was on hand and was by far the most talented back I have watched all week. Despite being just an underclassman in high school, Boults looks the part.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound recruit already has more than 30 offers, including Georgia and Alabama, both of which offered in the last week or so. Florida, Auburn and Penn State have also recently offered. Boults is already seen as the top back in his class and has already turned into a national recruit. He still plans to visit SMU, Texas Tech, South Carolina and Florida State. I was told he is all but done working at camps at this point, but he wanted to specifically work out for C.J. Spiller, whom he holds great affection for.

– 2028 three-star wideout Seven Rashad (Buford, GA) was still on hand this afternoon, although he did not work out. He was seen chatting it up with Clemson QB commit Kharim Hughley during one of the final drills. Hughley did not throw today but instead helped with some of the drills. Rashad was at one time committed to Purdue.

– 2027 LB Alex Gaston (Asher, GA) was an interesting prospect to have worked out during both sessions. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder has offers from Army and Navy, among others. Boston College is showing serious interest, as well. Gaston was taken inside the facility by someone on the staff in between the two sessions.

– Another interesting prospect who worked out this afternoon was AJ Igwiloh (Riverside, GA). He is 6-foot-8 and looks to easily be in the 260-pound range. After working out at defensive ends in the morning, he moved over to the offensive line during the afternoon. He is also a standout basketball player.

– 2029 in-state wideout Mason Snider (Clinton) worked out at both sessions on Saturday. Snider is the nephew of former Clemson OL Dalton Freeman, who was on hand to watch. Snider has really good hands and is a precise route runner. Throw it his way and he’s coming down with it.

– 2028 TE Gavin Parks made the trek down from New York. He is currently ranked as the sixth-best tight end in the state per Prep Red Zone. Parks is really just getting his football journey started, but he’s already received invites to camp at Princeton, Harvard, Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth. A pretty impressive list of Ivy League schools.

– 2027 OL Reece Honaker was back at this afternoon and while we were watching some of the drills, we noticed Kevin Kelly watching him closely. Honaker has eight offers, with Virginia starting to show strong interest.

– One final note. An unidentified female was working out with the running backs on Saturday afternoon. Not something you see every day. But you could tell she knew what she was doing.
