A former Clemson kicker is getting another NFL opportunity.
B.T. Potter has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced Monday.
After going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft, Potter originally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent before being released in August 2023.
Potter later signed with the Michigan Panthers of the UFL in November 2024. In 12 games during the 2025 UFL season, he connected on 13 of his 18 field goal attempts, including a long of 56 yards.
Potter, now 26, spent five seasons at Clemson (2018-22) and finished with a field goal percentage of 75.3 percent (73-of-97). He won a national championship with the Tigers in 2018 and was a two-time second-team All-ACC selection, as well as a two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist selection.
The Rock Hill, S.C., native finished his Clemson career holding school career records for field goals (73), PATs (234), points by a placekicker (453), consecutive PATs made (the first 122 and last 112 of his career on either side of his lone miss), starts by a placekicker (54), yards on field goals (2,716), field goals of 40-plus yards (34) and field goals of 50-plus yards (nine). He also kicked off 449 times for 28,662 yards with 344 career touchbacks.
Potter became the first player in ACC history to record four different seasons with at least 100 points, and he set the College Football Playoff National Championship Game record for longest field goal, converting on a 52-yarder against LSU. He scored in every game after earning Clemson’s starting placekicking job prior to the 2019 season.
