A former Clemson Tiger is heading for a new endeavor.
Ben Batson, who has served as one of the full-time strength coaches for the past three seasons, has accepted a position at Northwestern High School to serve as the program’s head strength coach.
Batson is the son of Joey Batson, who retired as Clemson’s head strength and conditioning coach in January, after spending nearly three decades in the role.
From Batson’s Clemson bio:
As a player, Batson appeared in 12 career games as a quarterback and safety for the Tigers from 2018-19 before medically retiring to transition to student strength and conditioning coaching for the remainder of his undergraduate tenure. He played quarterback on Clemson’s 2018 national championship squad and contributed primarily both at quarterback and on special teams for Clemson’s 14-1 squad in 2019.
Batson earned his degree in communication from Clemson in 2021. He spent the 2022 season as a strength and conditioning intern at Georgia State prior to returning to his alma mater for the 2023 season.
