Clemson assistant Tyler Grisham continues to prove his worth as a recruiter.
For the third time in the past four recruiting cycles, Grisham has put together a strong group of receivers. The lone exception was with the 2025 class, when the Tigers signed just one player at the position in Ju Ju Preston.
In 2024, Grisham signed both Bryant Wesco and T.J Moore, two of the top wideouts in the country. Both were ranked as five-stars at one point or another during their recruitment. In 2026, the Tigers landed three four-star talents in Naeem Burroughs, Gordon Sellars and Connor Salmin.
In the current cycle, Grisham has landed commitments from three more receivers with tons of upside. And don’t let the recruiting rankings fool you, they do not tell the entire story.
Five-star Jamarin Simmons is the highest-ranked recruit in the class, with one service ranking him among the Top 26 players in the country. That is pretty high praise in and of itself.
Simmons was the top target from the outset, earning his offer an impressive showing at camp last summer, and with Grisham leading the charge.
The speedy wideout has proven time and again that he’s an explosive playmaker. His 5-foot-11 frame would have most seeing him as a prototypical slot receiver, but he’s absolutely capable of playing outside, as well. And he’s such a good route runner that he has no issues creating separation.
Three-star Julian Cromartie might be one of the most underrated commits in the Tigers’ 2027 class. He is the son of former Florida State standout Antonio Cromartie, who was a first-round NFL draft pick of the San Diego Chargers in 2006, so he has the bloodlines.
The 6-foot-4 prospect was a late addition to the board and is one of those receivers who can go up and get it. He’s also just as capable of creating explosive plays, as evidenced by his 19.6 yards per catch as a junior in high school.
Four-star Trey Wimbley’s path was a little different. A product of local Daniel High School, the 6-foot wideout was always likely going to end up at Clemson, but most thought he’d be a member of the 2028 class.
Wimbley announced a commitment in December, while also revealing his plans to reclassify to the 2027 class. Before moving up, one of the services had him ranked as high as No. 52 overall.
He’s another one whose game features plenty of explosiveness, averaging more than 20 yards per reception last season.
With three receivers in the fold, Clemson is likely done, barring something unforeseen. For Grisham, this is just more of the same. Now entering his seventh season as the wide receivers coach, he is continuously proving he has the recruiting chops.
