Former Clemson Star Continues to Rake in Minors

A former Clemson star keeps on tearing it up in the minor leagues.

Cam Cannarella has continued to rake since earning a promotion to Double-A on June 2.

The former Tiger outfielder and current Miami Marlins top-10 prospect has been swinging an especially hot bat as of late. On June 24, Cannarella hit his third home run in four games. He earned Southern League Player of the Week honors on June 22 after tallying 11 hits in 20 at-bats last week while hitting safely in every game, including four multi-hit efforts.

In 18 games at Double-A Pensacola, as of June 24, Cannarella’s eye-popping numbers included a .371 average, .474 on-base percentage, .548 slugging percentage and 1.022 OPS across 62 at-bats, with three home runs, two doubles, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 12 walks against only eight strikeouts.

Cannarella missed a chunk of time earlier this season due to a fractured wrist he suffered in April. However, he clearly hasn’t missed a beat since returning to action from the injured list on May 17.

In 19 games at High-A this season prior to his promotion to Double-A, Cannarella slashed a stellar .394/.439/.577 with a 1.016 OPS in 71 at-bats over 19 games. The 22-year-old logged three home runs, two doubles, one triple, 22 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases, while walking eight times and striking out only 10 times.

Cannarella was selected by the Marlins in the Competitive Balance Round A (No. 43 overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft. He was the final pick prior to the second round. The Marlins agreed to a deal with Cannarella for $2,277,425 (slot value = $2,276,700).

In his three-year Clemson career (2023-25), Cannarella – a three-time All-ACC selection and two-time All-American — hit .360 with 262 hits, 54 doubles, eight triples, 23 homers, 159 RBIs, 192 runs and 30 steals in 178 games. He also had a .551 slugging percentage and .453 on-base percentage.

In his final season as a Tiger, Cannarella hit .353 with five homers, two triples, 22 doubles, 52 RBIs, 62 runs, a .479 on-base percentage and six steals in 61 games. He ended the season on a 44-game on-base streak and 22-game hitting streak, as he hit .421 with four homers, a triple, 11 doubles, a .684 slugging percentage and .491 on-base percentage during that streak.

Cannarella is currently the No. 7 prospect in the Marlins organization, according to MLB.com.
