A former Clemson star is back in the NBA Summer League, but with a different squad.
Chase Hunter will join the Golden State Warriors for 2026 NBA Summer League, the Clemson men’s basketball program announced via social media.
Hunter previously played with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2025 NBA Summer League.
After going unselected in the 2025 NBA Draft, Hunter signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Pelicans in June 2025. He spent the 2025-26 season playing in the NBA G League for the Laketown Squadron, who are affiliated with the Pelicans. The 6-foot-4, 202-pound guard averaged 7.8 points, 2.0 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game across 31 contests (20.4 minutes per game). He shot 36.3 percent from the field, 31.7 percent from beyond the arc and 91.7 percent from the free-throw stripe.
The now 25-year-old Hunter enjoyed a stellar college career at Clemson, spending six seasons playing for Brad Brownell from 2019-25. He finished his career with the Tigers third in total points (1,789), fifth in double-figure scoring games (93), first in minutes played (4,576), first in games played (167), fourth in starts (123), 12th in field goals made (614), sixth in three-point field goals (204), 10th in free throws made (357) and sixth in assists (435).
Hunter was named first-team All-ACC after helping lead Clemson to its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2024-25 campaign. He played in all 34 games, starting 33 of those. Hunter shot career-bests from the field (47.0 percent), from 3-point range (40.7) and from the free-throw line (86.6) in addition to career-highs in rebounds (103), blocks (16) and steals (48). He averaged a career-high 16.5 points, scoring 561 total points, which is good for 15th all-time in school history.
Hunter played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ run to the Elite 8 during the 2023-24 season. During the NCAA Tourney that season, he led the Tigers in scoring (17.8 points per game) and shot 50.0 percent from the field. He averaged 4.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game, while adding eight steals and three blocked shots. He earned All-West Region honors for his play.
For the season, he averaged 12.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He shot 42.4 percent from the field and 85.0 percent from the free-throw line.
The Warriors open their 2026 NBA Summer League slate against the Los Angeles Lakers in the California Classic at the Chase Center in San Francisco at 10:30 p.m. July 3.
