Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media Tuesday afternoon in the Smart Family Media Center as part of Clemson Football’s media outing.
Swinney gave an injury update on true freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds, saying that he is full go for fall camp after being limited in the spring.
“He’s full go,” Swinney said. “We limited him in the spring, but yeah, he’s done everything. He’s run every hill, run every sprint, 40s – he’s done everything.”
On Tuesday morning, during Clemson’s media outing, offensive coordinator Chad Morris said that redshirt junior Christopher Vizzina will still be at the top of the quarterback depth chart when fall camp gets underway.
Reynolds, meanwhile, heads into fall camp as Clemson’s No. 2 QB.
“Coming out of spring, coach made it clear, CV is our guy, and he will start fall camp as the guy,” Morris said. “But Tait is right there and had a really good spring. Came on at the end.”
Swinney added that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Reynolds is beyond his years from a physical standpoint.
“Tait, physically, is just at another level,” Swinney said. “He looks like he’s a fifth-year senior, physically.”
Reynolds officially signed with the Tigers on Dec. 3, 2025, before enrolling early in January.
A former four-star prospect according to ESPN, Reynolds was the No. 3 prospect in the state of Arizona and the 11th-best dual-threat quarterback nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, per ESPN.
A hamstring injury basically robbed Reynolds of his entire senior season at Queen Creek High School, but before that, he completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 2,238 yards with 22 touchdowns and only five interceptions as a junior in 2024. He also rushed 137 times for 1,426 yards and 19 touchdowns that year en route to being named by the Arizona Cardinals as the state’s player of the year.
Reynolds played for both teams during Clemson’s spring game on March 28, and between the two sides, the Queen Creek, Arizona native was 7-for-10 passing for 74 yards. He also ran for a 1-yard touchdown for the Orange team in the second quarter.
