Former Clemson edge rusher Clelin Ferrell has found a new home in the NFL.

Ferrell has signed with the Miami Dolphins, the team announced Monday.

Last season, Ferrell appeared in one game with the Los Angeles Chargers and eight games with the San Francisco 49ers. Between the two teams, he recorded 25 total tackles, four tackles for loss, four sacks and five quarterback hits.

His time with the 49ers marked his second stint with the franchise, as he spent the 2023 season in San Francisco before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the final week of the regular season ahead of the team’s Super Bowl run.

Ferrell, 29, is now entering his eighth NFL season in 2026. He was originally drafted by the Raiders with the fourth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Throughout his career with the Raiders (2019-22), 49ers (2023, 2025), Commanders (2024) and Chargers (2025), Ferrell has appeared in 98 games (57 starts) and registered 184 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, 12 passes defended, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He has also appeared in six total postseason games with the Raiders, Commanders and 49ers, tallying eight tackles, three quarterback hits and one pass defended.

Ferrell played at Clemson for four years from 2015-18, when he started all 44 games he appeared in and tallied 166 tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, 51 quarterback pressures, seven pass breakups and five caused fumbles. He was a two-time All-American, a two-time national champion and won the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award and the Ted Hendricks Award in 2018.
