Back in May, Clemson announced that defensive tackle Hevin Brown-Shuler had been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, which will obviously force him to miss the 2026 season.

On Thursday, during his press conference before the start of fall camp, head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on how things are progressing for the junior.

Swinney said Brown-Shuler is “doing amazing” right now and continues to make progress in his recovery.

“It is such a blessing. He’s doing amazing,” Swinney said. “He’s doing amazing. The treatment is working, and just so thankful for just the modern medicine and technology and all the research that has been done, and just how smart these doctors are. His body is really responding well. So, just really, really happy for him. You’re going to see him. He’s been here really every day. He’s part of camp, doing everything he needs to do. So, really heading in a good spot. He’s got a long way to go, but so far, his body is really responding well. So, that’s encouraging.”

Brown-Shuler committed to Clemson in April 2023 as a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class according to multiple recruiting services. He was ranked as a top-150 national prospect and the country’s sixth-best defensive tackle by Rivals.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder – a four-time all-region and all-state honoree at Pace Academy in Atlanta — enrolled at Clemson in the summer of 2024. He redshirted his first season at Clemson, while recording five tackles in 49 defensive snaps over four games. As a redshirt freshman in 2025, he played 57 defensive snaps and registered one tackle across three games.
