Alabama WR With Clemson Connections Eyeing Next Visit

Barrett Price had an extremely busy summer, which included his first trip to Clemson.

The three-star wideout (Spain Park, AL) traveled across the country attending college camps, including stops at Virginia, Georgia, Florida, SMU, Stanford, Washington and Oregon, along with the one in the Upstate.

Price noted that the camp at Clemson is a little different than most, and he was left with an excellent first impression of Dabo Swinney’s program.

“They do it really different, and that is kind of how my style is,” Price told The Clemson Insider. “Really focusing on the position drills, that was a really big thing I liked. Then the one-on-ones, the seven-on-sevens, that was really cool. It was overall just a great experience. Coach (Tyler) Grisham, coach Swinney, they did a great job. I just can not wait to come back. They left a really good impression.”

Since working out for the staff, Price has consistently been hearing from Grisham, as he prepares for his junior season.

“Really just checking up on me and seeing how I am doing,” Price said. “More recently, it has been about how camp is going. Sometimes he is asking am I training, and what am I focusing on trying to get better. Just trying to build that relationship. I have really enjoyed talking to him.”

The 6-foot wideout already has right at three dozen offers, including Georgia, Oregon, Ole Miss, Tennessee, SMU, Louisville, Kentucky and Florida. Clemson has offered just one receiver in the 2028 class, but at some point, the board will expand. When that happens, Price is hoping he’s on the receiving end of one of those calls.

“I think I have to go out this fall and just put up numbers,” he said. “Have a really good season, and hopefully they do throw an offer, but right now we are just focusing on building that connection, getting these game-day visits scheduled and making the relationship stronger.”

While Price has yet to lock in his next visit to Clemson, he is planning to get back at some point early in the season. Right now, he is eyeing either the North Carolina game on September 19 or the Miami game on October 3.

Price does have some connections to the Tigers. Last season, he was a teammate of current freshman quarterback Brock Bradley. He was also a teammate of quarterback Chris Vizzina in middle school. In fact, he and Vizzina still keep in contact.

“It is a pretty cool thing,” Price said. “We text about once a month, checking up on how we are. Our relationship has grown throughout the recruitment process. I have asked him a couple of questions about it. Like how to handle these conversations and how to handle what to do in these situations. That has been pretty good.”

While he hasn’t talked to Bradley as much since he arrived at Clemson in January, Price is certainly pulling for his former quarterback.

“He can spit it,” Price said. “He’s just got to go out there and prove himself.”

Florida State, Stanford, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee are some of the schools Price said he currently hears from the most.

As busy as his summer was, his fall will be just as busy, as the next step in the process will be the several game-day visits.. That’s when he will really start trimming his list to the real contenders. What he’s looking for is a winning program and who can develop him best.

“Mainly the staff and are they winners. Because that really means something to me,” Price said. “I would take a winner over any stat any day. Because winning is a big thing of mine. I do not like losing. Then the staff and player development. Player development is pretty key. If they are sending guys to the league, that is a big factor. Because the next step is to get to the NFL. That is pretty much what I am looking for.”

As far as the money aspect of recruiting, Price isn’t even thinking about that. With his father, Jason Price, being a quarterback at Tennessee during the Peyton Manning era, and other family members also playing football, he has grown up around the game. That has given him a true affection for the sport. And that love runs deeper than money.

“For me, it is all about the love of the game,” Price said. “I don’t even think about money right now because I am young and I don’t really need to be dealing with all of that. I just love the game. That is one thing about me. I love it. I have been raised around it. My dad played college four years at a high level. My cousins played. We are just a football family. I grew up around it. It is in my blood. I just love it.”
