For the first time since 2011, Clemson is not ranked in the Preseason AP Top 25 Poll.
The Tigers received 112 votes, which puts them at the top of the list in the “others receiving votes” category.
This is a vast change from this time last year when Clemson debuted at No. 4 in the AP Preseason Poll. However, after struggling to a 7-6 record, the Tigers would finish the season unranked.
Ohio State stis atop the Preseason AP Poll, with Oregon coming in at No. 2. Georgia, Notre Dame and Texas round out the Top 5.
Clemson was No. 23 in the Preseason Coaches Poll that came out recently.
Last month during the ACC Kickoff, Dabo Swinney’s team was picked to finish fourth in the conference by media members covering the league.
Clemson will begin the season on September 5 when the Tigers travel to face No. 11 LSU. The Bayou Bengals are currently a 9.5 point favorite. On October 3, Clemson will host No. 7 Miami, with the Hurricanes an early 6.5 point favorite. Those are the only two ranked teams on the Tigers’ slate heading into the season.
