Top In-State Back Sets Next Clemson Visit

One of the top running backs in the Palmetto State has set his next visit to Clemson.

Three-star Michael Martin II (Christ Church) tells The Clemson Insider he will be back on campus on October 24 for the Virginia Tech game.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pound back has been a frequent visitor over the past year or so. After working out at camp last summer, Martin was on hand for almost every home game last season, then visited multiple times in the spring.

The Tigers have yet to offer a running back in the 2028 class, but Martin is hearing from assistant C.J. Spiller on a very regular basis.

“Probably three or four times a week,” Martin recently told TCI. “He sends me graphics and stuff. I ask him how he’s doing, and he asks me how me and my family are doing. So it is pretty often, really.

“He says Clemson is like a long-paced type of game with the offers and everything. I am just going to keep talking to coach Spiller every week because this is a long process.”

Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Wake Forest are a few of the schools to have already offered.

Martin rushed for more than 1,400 yards as a sophomore, averaging 5.5 yards per carry and scoring 30 touchdowns, while earning 3A all-state honors. Prep Red Zone ranks him as the top in-state back in his class.
